For more than 15 years, Leigh has been helping families and individuals navigate matters that include divorce, custody, visitation, spousal support, child support, property division and protective orders. She represents clients throughout Northern Virginia in all aspects of domestic relations litigation. While litigation is a fundamental aspect of her practice, the majority of her cases settle outside of court. Leigh is experienced in settlement negotiations, settlement conferences, and mediations. It is Leigh’s goal to help clients reach an agreement in the most efficient way possible. Doing so aids in preserving relationships and minimizing adverse effects.

Every family law case takes its own unique path through the legal system and into resolution. Ideally, the people involved in the case are able to determine the outcome, as opposed to a judge making the final decision. Leigh provides sound advice to clients on how to resolve disputes in a way that protects their best interests. Time and again, she empowers people to develop their own agreements and steers them onto the best possible path for the future. Leigh is also a zealous advocate for her clients in court.

Since 2003, Leigh has guided countless people through family law matters. She is able to glean resources from her extensive involvement in the legal community as well. Leigh is an active member of the Virginia State Bar, Fairfax Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Arlington Bar Association, and the Virginia Women Attorneys Association. Leigh is a Director on the Fairfax Bar Association (FBA) Board of Directors and past chair of the FBA Circuit Court and Pro Bono Committees. She also is a member of the Public Service Committee of the Virginia Bar Association and a Silver Member of the Rule 6.1 Society of Legal Services of Northern Virginia. She is past-president of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association, Northern Virginia Chapter. Leigh is proficient in Spanish.

Leigh received her B.A. in government and Spanish from the College of William and Mary and her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. After receiving her law degree, Leigh was awarded a Clinical Teaching Fellowship at the Domestic Violence Institute at Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, where she taught law students to advocate for victims of domestic violence in two separate legal clinics. After her return to Virginia, Leigh joined The Susan Hicks Group, PC, where she practiced for many years before establishing Taylor Huguley Powers PLLC in 2019.
